About Us
The Skenè Research Centre focuses on the relation between ancient theatre and early modern English theatre.
To this end
it fosters, plans, and coordinates interdisciplinary comparative research and studies on theatre, from the antiquity to nowadays, with specific attention to the transmigration of topics, narratives, theatergrams, genres and styles from the point of view of reception, performance, and translation studies, as well as cultural studies, among others;
• it encourages the collection of documents related to these topics, as well as the creation of digital open-access databases;
it explores the possibilities offered by the digital humanities for the study of drama texts and their performances;
it promotes and organises, also in collaboration with other institutions, conferences, seminars, round tables and other activities for the study and dissemination of research findings.
